Many customers have been asking questions and the capabilities of different air cleaners
to remove or reduce the biological or chemical agents of bioterrorism. These questions
obviously originate from consumers who are concerned about the potential assault on our
nation's air. We need to provide you with accurate, credible and current information.
There are many possible toxic biological organisms as well as chemical substances of
concern even though the bacterial, viral and different chemical sabotage and terrorists
threats have yet been encountered in our air.
The CARE 2000 air purifier is designed to deliver a germicidal dose of 13,000 microwatts
per second. TB, smallpox and anthrax require less than 9,000 microwatts germicidal dose to
effectively inactivate or kill them.
The Ultraviolet chamber, Hospital Grade HEPA, and carbon media in the CARE 2000 unit
provides protection barriers against many of these agents.
For example, anthrax spores are two to six microns in size. The CARE 2000 air purifier is
tested to reduce particulates as small as 0.3 microns 99.97%, and should effectively
reduce anthrax. Also, Ultraviolet light disrupts the reproduction mechanism in
microorganisms, rendering them inactive. Regarding chemical agents, carbon filters absorb
many toxic compounds, however, they are not routinely tested for a particular bioterrorist
chemical.
In conclusion, we are not claiming any specific abilities by our products in this matter,
but it is appropriate to point out that the CARE 2000 provides some level of protection to
the user.
